Collection: Jaya Saxena

She is a self-taught artist based in Marietta, where she lives with her husband of over 25 years and their two teenage children. When she’s not working in her home studio, she enjoys walking, traveling, visiting art museums, and spending time with friends and family.

Having grown up in India, color has always been central to her life and artistic voice. Her abstract work is open to interpretation, inviting viewers to look beyond immediate recognition and form personal connections. For her, painting is a process of discovery with no right or wrong reading.

She works with acrylics, oils, pastels, and oil pastels, often incorporating magazine paper and found materials to create texture and depth. By layering and selectively revealing earlier marks, she creates a balance between concealment and exposure. Her figures focus on gesture and emotion rather than precise form, while her abstract florals and landscapes express the vibrancy and joy of nature.
